I'd say that there is an ecosystem of Python packages through pip and hosted through OSS in Github that could be an example. They build on top of each other creating an amazing ecosystem.
There are examples where the oppocite is true too like the huge Log4j vulnerability last year. There were too few options and varience so there was a single point of failure. This could be seen as a negative case possibly.
Anyways, I'm still thinking a lot of this through if you have any thoughts on it!
